120 pro players for the International Padel Tour unless ...

The battle to become the representative of padel professional continues between Estrella Damm owner of World Padel Tour and Monte-Carlo International Sports which has just launched the International Padel Tour.

Remember, then July 23, the Monegasque businessman, Fabrice Pastor, presented players (and brands) with the "International Padel Tour ”, the new circuit of padel professional that he plans to launch in 2019.

And in the midst of this confrontation between 2 powers of padel worldwide, a group of 120 professional players formed to explain that they were ready to accept MCIS's offer if the World Padel Tour did not line up ...

A much more complex duel

The hashtag duel (#YosoyWorldPadelTour vs #montecarloiamin) perfectly illustrates this struggle which confronts two projects. And this project clearly divides players today.

This group, close to the initiative of Monte-Carlo International Sports, has decided to inform Estrella Damm about the proposal received by MCIS to protect its backs and cover its legal obligations. Because yes, beyond, opinions, there is also a legal duel that looms.

Can players free themselves from the World Padel Tour just as simply?

A priori, yes, since the professional players who have participated in the professional circuit of World Padel Tour were committed for a period of 5 years.

We remember that a little over 5 years ago, the Padel Pro Tour, the former professional circuit, had the show stolen by the World Padel Tour.

But we also remember that he had had complicated judicial consequences between the PPT and the WPT.

What do professional players want?

The key is obviously the remuneration of professional players. Today, the players of padel are still too few to make a living from their profession on the professional circuit.

The group of 120 players would therefore be ready to "renew their contract with Setpoint Events SA (The organizer of the World Padel Tour) for an additional 5 years, provided the WPT agrees to align with the IPT". explains one of the representatives of this group of players.

The players' proposal is to renew the contract with Setpoint Events SA (organizer and manager of the World Padel Tour) for 5 additional years, provided that he accepts the following conditions (those raised by Fabrice Pastor in his project):

  • A circuit with 16 to 24 stages of World Padel Tour (Including Challengers) and outside the Master Final.
  • An increase of about 25% of Price Money
  • Switch from 24 pairs to 28 pairs in the main board of an Open.
  • 16 pairs must go directly into the main draw against 8 today. This will allow for these pairs to have a guaranteed remuneration.
  • Freedom in sponsoring players.
  • Freedom to participate in a tournament padel less than 100 km from a stage of World Padel Tour.
  • Streaming in the qualifying phases
  • Donation to the Association of Padel or to the federation of padel of the country corresponding to an amount equivalent to 2% of the total income obtained from the sale of tickets. In case of absence of association or federation, the organizer of the tournament will decide the fate of this amount which must have the effect of protecting, monitoring and promoting the interests of the players.

Forgotten women?

We see it well in this group of players, not a professional player.

Moreover some elements requested by this group of players will not be applicable for the ladies.
