Padel continues to push boundaries. In Vigo, four Spanish players entered the Guinness World Records by playing the longest padel match in history. A 41-hour performance, undertaken to benefit a charity.

An extraordinary challenge in Vigo

The popularity of padel continues to grow worldwide, and some enthusiasts are now taking on extraordinary challenges. The latest one took place in  Vigo , where a new world record was set this weekend.

Brais Rey, Martín Domínguez, Jorge Bigotes and Pablo Santos  held  41 hours  on the track, erasing the previous record, set at  31 hours, 38 minutes and 50 seconds .

The challenge took place at the facilities of  But Auga Barreiro , on the sidelines of the padel tournament Concello de VigoThe match, which began on Friday night, only ended on Saturday afternoon, after nearly two days of uninterrupted effort.

100 sets played

Throughout this incredible endurance test, the four players competed  100 sets .

From a sporting perspective, the victory went to  Brais Rey and Martin Dominguez , winners  57 sets to 43 . A result that is ultimately insignificant compared to the physical and mental feat accomplished.

The participants' bodies were put to the test. One of the most striking images of this marathon came from  Brais Rey who finished part of the match…  without shoes , in order to relieve his feet after several dozen hours spent on the track.

A record in service of a good cause

Beyond the performance, the event also had a solidarity dimension.

The organizers had pledged to donate  One euro donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer for every two minutes of play . Thanks to  41 hours  disputed,  1 230 euros  were thus collected.

The check was presented at the end of the event in the presence of the mayor of Vigo.  Abel Caballero and the Deputy Mayor for Sports,  Manel Fernández concluding a weekend where padel demonstrated that it could also be a tremendous vector of solidarity.
