Between the P1 Dubai and Mexico Major next week, a key step in the FIP Tour is taking place in Veracruz: the Skechers Platinum FIPA major tournament that offers 300 point in the rankings… and especially in the Race, crucial for securing a place at Barcelona Finals (Top 16 of the season).
Leal/Bergamini headline the match after Galán and Chingotto withdrew
Initially registered, Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto have finally withdrawn, as they did at the FIP Platinum Lyon. As a result:
the number 1 seed is now the pair Javi Leal / Lucas Bergamini, a duo under pressure since Leal now occupies 16th and last place qualifying for Barcelona.
They will begin against Álvaro Montiel / Juan Cruz Belluati, a tricky first round.
On the other side of the board, the pair Momo González / Fran Guerrero arrives as the No. 2 seed. Both are 14th and 15th to the Race and will try to secure their place in the top 16 in this tournament.
Just behind them, we find Edu Alonso / Juan Tello (19th and 17th), clearly on a mission to climb the rankings. With 300 point As a result, they can dangerously close the gap to the Top 16.
300 vital points in the race to Barcelona
This FIP Platinum is much more than a “simple” tournament: it can reshuffle the cards before the final weeks of competition.
Men's issues:
- Javi Leal (16th) needs points for secure your place in the Top 16.
- Juan Tello (17th) : can return just a few units of the Top 16 in case of victory.
- Edu Alonso (19th) a victory could put him back race for Barcelona.
- Momo – Guerrero (14th and 15th) : a semi-final or a final would allow them to breathe easier.

An equally strategic women's painting
In the women's draw, 28 pairs are entered, with the presence of many players from the Critical zone Race.
The top seeds:
- Alejandra Alonso / Claudia Jensen
Very close to official qualification, a good result could seal their presence in Barcelona. - Marina Guinart / Veronica Virseda
Current 15e et 16e of the Race: they defend their headquarters in the “magnificent 16”. - Aranzazu Osoro / Victoria Iglesias
Both located in 20th and 19th placeThey are clearly playing for their survival in the race to the Finals. - Bea Caldera / Carmen Goenaga
17e to the Race and first non-qualified: these 300 points would be a golden opportunity to try to overtake Guinart and Virseda and enter the Top 16.

A crucial tournament before the final rush
With so many players located in the risk zone of the Race ranking, the FIP Platinum Veracruz could become one of the major turning points of this end of the season.
For both men and women, a victory in Veracruz can change the whole picture with a view to Barcelona Finals.
For some, it will be about securing their place.
For others, it's about treating themselves to a last chance before the decisive test of Mexico Major.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
