Tamara Icardo  et  Claudia jensen  delivered the biggest performance of the week at  Bordeaux Premier Padel P2 In the final, the 5th seed overturned the  world number 1 ,  Gemma Triay / Delfi Brea , on the score of  3/6 6/1 6/1 .

A huge victory, at the end of a perfectly controlled week. Icardo and Jensen successively eliminated the  seeded 4 , Then  seeded 2 before bringing down the  seeded 1  in the final. A complete run, which gives them their  first title together .

This is also the first time this season that a pair located outside the  world top 3  wins a title on the circuit  Premier Padel .

A perfect start, then the reaction of the number 1s

Icardo and Jensen started this final in the same vein as their semi-final performance. They quickly broke their opponent's serve, once again with a  Claudia jensen  very prominent along its diagonal. Opposite,  Delfi Brea  seems to be struggling a bit, which allows the Spanish-Argentine pair to take the lead.

But the world's number ones react quickly.  Triay / Brea  They increase the intensity, speed up the game, and disrupt Icardo/Jensen's rhythm. The match then swings in their favor: they break back, then secure a double break to win the first set  6/3 .

At that moment, one could wonder if Icardo and Jensen would be able to get going again, especially after the energy already expended the previous day against  Paula Josemaría / Bea González Following up a big performance is never easy. And that's precisely why their victory takes on even more significance.

Jensen was a giant, Icardo impeccable

From the second set onwards,  Icardo / Jensen  They adjust their game plan perfectly. They vary the rhythms, the areas, the intensity. They no longer allow Triay and Brea to settle into a comfortable pattern.

This variation completely extinguished the world number ones, who gradually lost intensity. Meanwhile,  Claudia jensen  had a tremendous game. Only  20 years Argentina once again demonstrated the extent of its potential. Volleys at the net, smashes, kicks, changes of pace: it did a lot of damage in its cross-court game against Brea.

Next to her,  Tamara Icardo  was equally valuable. Very solid, very precise, she brought order to the game. Her work in the box was essential to containing the opposition's attacks and constantly putting Triay/Brea under pressure.

Result: Icardo and Jensen dominate in the last two heats,  6 / 1 6 / 1 leaving very few solutions for the world's number 1.

Doubles tennis match scorecard: G. Triay Pons and D. Brea Senesi vs T. Icaro Alcorisa and C. Jensen; sets 6-3, 1-6, 1-6 with 02:17:10, and center-stats for points, breaks, serves, and returns.

Triay/Brea no response

This was not the best version of  Gemma Triay  et  Delfi Brea Argentina made many unforced errors, with several poor tactical choices. Triay, too, seemed less sharp than usual, with uncharacteristic mistakes and few solutions found to get back into the final.

In the slow conditions of Bordeaux, Icardo and Jensen made better use of their game. They were willing to build up play, defend, and vary their approach, without ever losing sight of their game plan.

After nine consecutive defeats against  Triay / Brea They finally have their victory. And not just any victory: a final, against the world's number 1, to go for the title.

First title together

For  Claudia jensen This is a new title on the circuit.  Premier Padel , after the one won at  Acapulco in 2024 . For  Tamara Icardo This is a first on Premier Padel.

This victory marks a turning point for the pair. Their week in Bordeaux confirms that they can compete with the best, especially in conditions that value their ability to vary their play, defend, and build attacks.

On their side,  Triay / Brea  They will have to wait a while longer to reclaim the title. The world's number one players haven't won since... Italy Major and this lost final in Bordeaux confirms a slightly less dominant period.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
