Le Miami P1 mark a forced truce in the open war between Premier Padel, the International Federation of Padel (FIP) and the players. After weeks of tension and successive boycotts of the Gijón and Cancún tournaments, the best players in the world are bound by contract to argue P1 and Major category tournaments, which explains their presence this week at the USA.
But this temporary peace does not mean that the conflict is resolved. Tensions remain high, and several points of contention continue to divide the different parties.
A climate still under high tension
If all players are gathered at Miami, the situation between them, the FIP and Premier Padel remains very tense and the atmosphere within the tournament is heavy.
One of the main reasons for players' exasperation concerns the allocation of points for the Cancun tournament. Several players had officially contested the validity of this test, arguing that the FIP had violated its own regulations by reopening the registration period twice. They therefore demanded the cancellation of the points distributed, a request that was ignored by the federation, causing a new fracture between the camps.
Faced with this refusal, thePlayers' Association now considers an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to try to obtain the nullity of the points obtained in Cancun. An action that could to fan the flames even more of the conflict and make negotiations even more complex.
A tense month before another fracture?
If this truce will last the duration of the Miami P1, she should extend until mid-April. After Miami, the players will be at Santiago de Chile for a P1And then Doha for the Qatar Major, two tournaments in which they are contractually obliged to participate.
But the real key date of this crisis could well be on April 21, start date of the Brussels P2. This category tournament P2, like those of Gijon and Cancun, is not part of the players' obligations. However, A new boycott could be on the agenda if no progress is made in the negotiations by then.
Towards calm or a new escalation?
This month of March and early April will be determinant for the future of Premier Padel. If no agreement is reached, it is not impossible that the circuit is heading towards a new showdown between players and organization.
The future of Premier Padel is at stake in these negotiations. Either the current truce leads to a lasting agreement, either the tensions will continue to fuel a crisis that could further weaken the stability of the circuit and the image of professional padel.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
