The victory at  Gijon P2  has not been a long, quiet river for  Delfi Brea After winning the final with  Gemma Triay Argentina revealed they had gone through a very difficult week physically.

In a sincere statement after the meeting, she explained that she had been  very ill for much of the tournament , to the point of having difficulty getting out of bed between matches.

"It's been a very difficult week for me. From the second match onwards, I was very ill. The only thing that kept me out of bed was being able to be with the team and do what I love."

Despite these complicated conditions, the pair  Triay / Brea  held on until the very end to clinch the title. A victory all the more important as it puts an end to  five months without a trophy  for both players. Their last victory dated back to  Rotterdam P1 in October 2025 .

Sánchez / Ustero, the challenge of the season

Brea also made sure to emphasize the  threat posed by Ariana Sánchez and Andrea Ustero  this season.

The two pairs have already faced each other twice in the final since the beginning of the year.  Sánchez and Ustero had won at Riyadh P1 , While  Triay and Brea took their revenge in Gijón  after a huge battle lasting more than three hours.

For Brea, this duel could well become  one of the great rivalries of the season .

"Andrea and Ari are going to pose a very big challenge for us this year. But we are two players who love challenges and who love to compete even when everything is against us."

A title that can kick-start their season

Beyond the trophy, this success could  to serve as a trigger  for the pair led by  Seba Nerone After several lost finals in recent months, Triay and Brea finally return to victory.

In an increasingly crowded women's circuit, with the emergence of  Sánchez / Ustero Every duel counts. And if the final in Gijón proved anything, it's that  The battle for the titles in 2026 is far from over. .

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
