Alejandra Salazar  She is living through the final months of her professional career. The Spaniard, the most decorated player in the history of women's padel, will hang up her paddle at the end of the season, bringing to a close a career that will have left a lasting mark on the circuit.

Alors que le  Doha World Cup  As the approach draws near, a question begins to gain momentum: Could Salazar find himself  Gemma Triay  One last time in the Spanish jersey?

An association that dominated the circuit

Between  2021 and 2023 Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay formed one of the strongest pairs of their era.

The two Spanish women reached the top spot  world number 1  and accumulated titles thanks to an almost perfect complementarity. Salazar brought his reading of the game, his regularity and his ability to build points, while Triay imposed his power and volume on the left side.

Their dominance particularly marked the seasons  2021 and 2022 , which concluded at the top of the standings. Their victory at  Final Master 2022  It remains one of the symbols of this period.

The regret of a possible return

The separation occurred during the summer of 2023, when Salazar also had to deal with physical problems.

A few months later, a reunion of the pair would have been conceivable. In an interview given to BullpadelThe former world number 1 revealed that she received a call from Triay at the end of the season to reform their duo in 2024.

“At the end of the year, I received a call from Tamara Icardo, but also one from Gemma to play in 2024. Now I wonder: what might have happened if I had said yes to her?”

Salazar will ultimately choose another project. Gemma Triay, for her part, will continue her journey until she regains the top spot in the world with  Delfi Brea .

 One last encounter with Spain?

The next  World Championship , scheduled to take place in Qatar in November, could offer Alejandra Salazar one last big stage.

The new Spanish national team coach  Carolina Navarro  will have a particularly deep roster, with many players established among the world's best. Therefore, Salazar's inclusion in the final roster is not guaranteed.

But his experience, his track record and his knowledge of major events could weigh heavily when it comes to selection.

Salazar and Triay reunited one last time?

In a team competition, partnerships can change depending on the matches and the opposing teams' profiles. If Alejandra Salazar is called up, the idea of a final match alongside  Gemma Triay  would therefore become possible.

Beyond the sporting aspect, the image would be powerful: to reunite, for the duration of a match, a pair that dominated world padel and marked the recent history of the women's circuit.

There's no guarantee that this final dance will take place. But with Salazar's retirement just a few months away, the prospect of seeing her again alongside Triay in the Spanish colors is already enough to fuel expectations.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
