Criticized, pushed around, almost forgotten in the race for the throne, Alejandro Galán answered in the best way: by winning the Miami P1 title with Federico ChingottoA victory that sets the record straight for a pair that has been searching for certainty for several months.

Doubts swept away by a major title

After one failed start in Riyadh with an early elimination in the quarter-finals against Augsburger / Cardona, Galán and Chingotto were expected to perform at the turn in Miami. And the pair did not tremble: a solid run, a controlled final against Lebrón / Stupaczuk (6/1 7/6), And a first coronation in 2025 which could mark a turning point in their season.

Chingotto summed it up after the semi-finals:

"Only we know what we went through. It was tough, but Ale brought out his number one badge. For me, he's still the best."

Galán responds in the storm

Long time, Galán was at the top, chaining the finals with Juan Lebrón, holding the number 1 spot for three seasons. But in recent months, the wind had changed. Less dominant, less decisive, Galán had lost his brilliance while Tapia and Coello took power and that the new pair Lebron / Stupa was gaining momentum.

À Miami, the Spaniard proved that he still had a lot to offer. Performing very well throughout the tournament, he combined volume of play, controlled aggression and an ability to close out points like few players can.

The numbers that speak for themselves

According to Padel Intelligence, Galán was the most decisive player of the tournament :

  • 109 winners in 4 matchesEither 1,31 winners per game on average.
  • 29 winners in the final, compared to only 17 for Lebrón.
  • Only 7 unforced errors during the title match.

Even the instructions of Pozzoni, Stupa and Lebrón's coach, could do nothing:

"Come on, the objective is to stop Galán from scoring us any more points with his smash."
Spoiler: They didn't succeed.

A Galán almost found… but not yet 100%

While Alejandro's performance in Miami was impressive, there remains room for improvement: its management of key moments. In advanced stats, his contribution to important points remains slightly negative. Proof that, mentally, he can still move up a level.

But this return to form is coming at the most crucial moment. After a complicated end to 2024 and a hesitant start to 2025, Galan and Chingotto send a strong signal to the competition: they are not dead, quite the opposite.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
