Present during the  4PADEL Football Cup Alexandre Letellier has traded his goalkeeper gloves for a padel racket. Partnered with  Layvin Kurzawa The former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper achieved a  solid tournament , despite being eliminated in the group stage.

 A former PSG goalkeeper is in the running 

Formé au  Paris Saint-Germain Alexandre Letellier maintained a strong connection with the capital club for a long time before returning as a professional goalkeeper. A former third-choice goalkeeper for PSG, he spent several seasons in  the Parisian environment , in contact with the very highest level.

Now retired from professional football, Letellier continues to find  certain sensations  on the padel courts. And naturally, his past as  goalkeeper  is never very far away.

“As a goalkeeper, I can say that footwork is going to be a huge help in padel. I've already met quite a few goalkeeping coaches who told us: if you want to do a sport other than football to stay in shape during the summer, play tennis or table tennis. So it's true that in padel, I find those footwork skills.”

Short movements, reflexes, trajectory reading: all these are  qualities that can make a difference  on a track.

 A pairing with Layvin Kurzawa 

For this 4PADEL Football Cup, Alexandre Letellier played alongside  Layvin Kurzawa An association  100% PSG which showed some beautiful things in a very friendly atmosphere.

Even though the pair didn't manage to get out of the group stage, the two former Parisians did well, with a  good understanding on the field  and a real desire to play the game. The tournament, conceived as a moment of sharing between former footballers, also allowed Letellier to  to see several familiar faces. 

When asked about former teammates he could see performing well in padel, Alexandre Letellier naturally returns to the world of PSG, where  According to him, several profiles could adapt to the discipline .

“Of the pros I’ve played with, today I’m playing with Layvin for the first time. And otherwise, my two usual teammates are both former PSG players. One of them came through the youth academy, but unfortunately didn’t make it to the pro level. And my other teammate is Michael Lassen, who was the assistant to our team manager, and with whom I play regularly.”

In the field,  Alexandre Letellier already knows where he stands Large build, left-sided player, he primarily seeks to use his physique to enhance his game.

“First of all, I'm a left-sided player. I'm tall, so let's say my main quality is going to be power, obviously. The goal is to get myself into a position as quickly as possible to try and make a par three or a par four.”

And between the two spectacular shots, the former goalkeeper has  his preference. 

“I’ll say by three because it’s more technical. By four, it’s a bit more brute force and you don’t really need any particular technique, just hit it well and it comes out. So I’d say I prefer by three.”

 Tournaments, but without skipping steps 

Alexandre Letellier is not entirely new to competition. He already participates in  some tournaments , with  the desire to progress at one's own pace .

“I already play in tournaments, but for now at lower levels. I'm trying and hoping to progress quickly to climb the ranks little by little.”

A clear-sighted, yet ambitious approach. At the 4PADEL Football Cup, Letellier confirmed that he already had  real bases , a good reading of the game and especially  the desire to continue enjoying themselves on the track .
