The adventure enters  Sanyo Gutierrez and Gonzalo Alfonso  It will ultimately last only a few months. After a difficult start to the season, the two Argentinians have decided to end their collaboration. The announcement was made official by  Gonzalo Alfonso  on their social media. The Argentinian pair will play again  the Cancun and Miami tournaments  before separating for good.

A promising partnership on paper

When their partnership was announced for the 2026 season, it immediately sparked curiosity. On the one hand,  Sanyo Gutiérrez , former world number one and emblematic figure of tactical padel. On the other hand,  Gonzalo Alfonso , a creative and spectacular player who had recently made a name for himself on the circuit.

Technically, the two Argentinians seemed to share a fairly similar vision of the game: a style of padel based on point construction, variation, and tactical intelligence. An appealing combination, capable on paper of producing a particularly rich game.

But in an increasingly fast and physical circuit, the equation proved more complex to implement.

A frustrating start to the season

The initial results quickly raised doubts.  FIP Platinum of Marseille The pair had reached the semi-finals without any real trouble before stumbling on  Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero  (6/2 6/3), dominated in intensity and speed of exchange.

The real warning came a few weeks later at  P1 of Riyadh The Argentinians were eliminated in their first match by the qualifiers.  Javier Martinez and Ramiro Valenzuela , an unexpected setback that confirmed the pair's difficulties in finding a solid dynamic.

In a circuit where results must come very quickly, these poor performances have fueled questions about the association.

An alchemy that is difficult to find

In terms of their playing style, the pair possessed numerous qualities. Their tactical vision...  Sanyo Gutiérrez , his defense and his ability to slow the pace remain among the most refined on the circuit.

For its part,  Gonzalo Alfonso  brings creativity and variety, with an offensive style based more on inspiration than pure power.

But in modern padel where speed and physical impact are playing an increasingly important role, this partnership has never really found the balance needed to regularly compete with the dominant pairs.

Alfonso pays tribute to Sanyo

It is  Gonzalo Alfonso  who made the separation official on her social media, with a message that was particularly respectful towards her partner.

The Argentinian player spoke of several months rich in learning and experience alongside the man he nicknames "the magician".

"It's been many months of learning and fun by your side. I've enjoyed every minute on and off the field," he wrote.

He also acknowledges that the results of  Riyadh and Gijon  weighed heavily in the decision to end the association.

“We worked hard and tried many things to strengthen the pairing, but these recent results have made us realize that it was best to take different paths.”

Alfonso finally wanted to acknowledge the high standards and professionalism of his compatriot: "I admire you enormously. You have made me more professional and you remain someone of the highest standards."

Last tournaments together in Cancun and Miami

Before turning the page for good,  Gutiérrez and Alfonso will play two more tournaments together: Cancún and Miami Two final appearances for a pair that ultimately left more questions than answers.

This separation illustrates once again the reality of the professional circuit: projects sometimes need time to build, but the results remain the ultimate judge.

Neither the talent of  Sanyo Gutiérrez  nor that of  Gonzalo Alfonso  Their form is not in question. It now remains to be seen with which respective partners the two Argentinians will attempt to revive their season.
