Olympic champion and two-time world heavyweight boxing titleholder, Anthony Joshua, has officially joined the British team AD/vantage Padel Team as co-owner, alongside the tennis star Andy MurrayThe announcement comes as the team prepares to defend its title at the next edition of the Hexagon Cup, scheduled in Madrid from 29 January at 2 February 2025.
A major support for British padel
Anthony Joshua comes to reinforce an ambitious project which reflects the rise of padel in the United Kingdom. With over 600 courses and growing popularity, padel is establishing itself as an essential sport. This dynamic is supported by influential figures in world sport, such as Eva Longoria, Sergio Agüero, Lionel Messi, Robert Lewandowski or the Rafael Nadal Academy, also involved in the competition.
Joshua shared his enthusiasm: “The development of padel at an international level is remarkable. Participating in this project with Andy and the entire team was a unique opportunity. I am looking forward to contributing to the defence of our title in Madrid while promoting the growth of this sport.”
A team ready to defend its title
Under the leadership of a group of co-owners including Joshua, Murray, Arran Yentob (entrepreneur) and Dani Vallverdu (former tennis coach), AD/vantage team Padel Team displays a high-level composition in three categories:
- Men's elite : Martín Di Nenno and Juan Tello, title holders.
- Women's elite : Delfi Brea and Sofia Araújo, essential players on the professional circuit.
- Next Gen female : Martina Calvo and Marta Borrero, rising talents with strong potential.
Andy Murray also highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “Having Anthony join Arran, Dani and I is a great asset. His experience and passion for the sport will strengthen our mission to defend the title while supporting the growth of padel.”
