The circuit Premier Padel continues its season with a highly anticipated South American tour, featuring two consecutive stops: Asunción (P2) in Paraguay, followed by Buenos Aires (P1) in Argentina. After the Belgian leg, the circuit crosses continents with significant stakes for both men and women.
A dense and open masculine tableau
In the men's draw, 28 pairs are competing in this Paraguayan tournament. One of the more intriguing aspects is the wild card awarded to the young local prospect Facundo Dehnike, born in 2008, who is partnered with Marcel Font. This entry could lead them to face Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas as early as the round of 16.
World number 1s Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, who were beaten in Brussels, will start against Lucas Campagnolo and Jairo Bautista or a pair from the qualifiers.
For their part, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan will begin their tournament against Inigo Jofre and David Gala or qualifiers.
Among the anticipated matches, the quarter-finals could offer some very high-level confrontations:
- Coello / Tapia (1) vs Nieto / Sanz (6)
- Garrido / Bergamini (8) vs Juan Lebron / Leo Augsburger (4)
- Stupaczuk / Yanguas (3) vs. Gonzalez / Martin Di Nenno (7)
- Guerrero / Paquito Navarro (5) vs. Chingotto / Galan (2)
A women's draw dominated by the top seeds
In the women's draw, 24 pairs are competing, with the eight seeded players automatically qualifying for the round of 16. All eyes will be on Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez, who are riding high after their recent successes in Miami, Newgiza, and Brussels.
For their first match, they will face either the Caldera / Goenaga pair or the Castelló / Rufo duo, two oppositions not to be underestimated.
In the other part of the draw, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay could cross paths with Alix Collombon and Jana Montes as soon as they enter the competition.
The anticipated quarter-finals also promise a high level of competition:
- Brea / Triay (1) vs Salazar / Alonso (7)
- Icardo/Jensen (5) vs. Sanchez/Ustero (3)
- Fernandez / Araujo (4) vs Guinart / Virseda (8)
- Ortega / Calvo (6) vs. Josemaria / Gonzalez (2)
Following recent results in Europe, notably the first title for the Lebrón/Augsburger pair and the consistency of Josemaría/Gonzalez, this Paraguayan leg kicks off an important stretch of the calendar. The subsequent tournament in Buenos Aires should either confirm the current momentum… or reshuffle the deck.
