Unless there's a huge surprise, Spain should be crowned European champions next week, during the 2024 European Championships in Cagliari. Even without his big names, the country sends a strong delegation in Italy and it is hard to imagine another team coming to steal his title.

Ultimately, everything will be decided for second and third place, for both men and women. Among the other four seeds, we find theItaly, France, Sweden…and the Belgium (without forgetting the Portugal who will act as a spoilsport but who is not among the top seeds).

When asked about the question, Clement Geens, sports director of Padel Wallonia Brussels, professional player and selected for Cagliari, gave his opinion on the Belgian team who will soon fly to Sardinia: “I think the level of the team is roughly the same as in previous editions. Each player obviously progressed, but like all the other participants".

So, what ambitions for Belgium in this edition? The Belgian answers us: “We want to do, at a minimum, as well as last time: among the women, we finished 5th and the same among the men".

However, Clément Geens clearly underlines the return of Portugal who will present “a very strong team“, both for ladies and gentlemen. He also talks about the Netherlands, a team not to be forgotten: “We must not underestimate the Netherlands, who have a level very close to ours".
