In the quarter-finals of the French Padel Championships, Bastien Blanqué and Nicolas Rouanet put in a top-flight performance to brush aside the pair Team France 2025 made of Timéo Fonteny and Yoan BoronadA victory in two sets (6/1 7/5) which propels the pair into the semi-finals.
Rouanet: “It was very emotional to experience this”
For Nicolas Rouanet, the match started in a tense manner, before turning into a real demonstration:
"It was extremely intense from the start. I was surprised in the first game with two faults, but we reacted quickly after that. In the first set, they never won their serve, which shows that we were solid. It was a mental battle as much as a physical one."
Very moved at the end of the match, the left-hander savored this special victory:
"With Bas, it's special. We stayed calm during the difficult moments and it paid off. For me, it's very emotional to experience this. We only have one desire now: to go all the way."
Blanqué: “A complicated moment, but I quickly came back”
For its part, Bastien Blanqué returned to the highlight of the match, the penalty point given to Boronad and Fonteny for an angry gesture:
"At the time, I was really embarrassed. We didn't even know they'd taken a penalty point. Yo is super fair play, we thought it was 30-15, and suddenly we found ourselves with two break points. I was totally surprised, not ready to play those points. Mentally, I lost it for five minutes. But luckily, we pulled ourselves together, broke back, and finished the job."
The three-time French champion also wanted to congratulate his opponents:
"Timéo and Yoan are a very strong pair; they played a great match. For our part, we managed to bring all our experience to bear, staying united and calm. Nico was incredible; he held his own and played really well. With only 48 hours of training together, we're in the semi-finals, and we want to go all the way."

Figures that speak
The statistics illustrate the domination of the Blanqué / Rouanet duo:
- 62 winning points against 35 for Boronad / Fonteny
- Only 23 unforced errors
- A regularity and intensity that completely neutralized their opponents
In the semi-final, Blanqué and Rouanet will meet two old acquaintances: Benjamin Tison and Maxime Forcin, who defeated Joris / Seurin (6/0 6/4). A match that promises to be explosive between four players who know each other perfectly.
For Blanqué and Rouanet, the objective is clear: to continue this momentum and seek a place in the final of these French Championships.
