We were expecting a huge final at P1000 Ladies The Hangar … and the show lived up to expectations.
After a real battle of almost 2:30 , the 4nd seed Lisa Bognard / Alice Hofer creates a surprise by dominating the 2nd seed Laura Clergue / Marie Maligo on the score of 6/2 6/7 6/3 .
A huge victory for both players, who also take their revenge on Marie Maligo, who defeated them four weeks ago in the Monkey final.
A first set that was completely mastered
The start of the match is clearly in favor of the 4th seed.
Very aggressive from the opening exchanges, Lisa Bognard and Alice Hofer quickly broke serve to take the lead 3/0 .
Their strategy is clear:
play forward, put a lot of pressure on and prevent TS2 from establishing themselves in the exchanges.
And it works perfectly.
On the other side, Laura Clergue and Marie Maligo appear less sharp than in the semi-final and commit many unforced errors.
Result:
TS4 dominates and logically takes the first round 6/2 , without ever being questioned about her service games.
A one-sided tie-break
But a finale like this couldn't end without a completely crazy scenario.
In the second set, the number 2 seed clearly raised the level.
Clergue and Maligo break from the start to lead 2/0 , before being reattached and then overtaken by 3/2 .
The sleeve then becomes extremely tight.
The service games are very close, there are many break opportunities… but neither team cracks.
On to the tie-break.
And while Bognard and Hofer seemed to have done the hard part, they completely missed the mark in this decisive game.
TS2 rolls on and wins 7/1 to get back into the final.
A pair that has never changed its philosophy
One might have thought that the momentum had completely shifted.
But Lisa Bognard and Alice Hofer never deviated from their game plan.
Despite a few mistakes, they continued to play very aggressively, never backing down or giving in.
And this risk-taking ultimately paid off.
The TS4 break was the first in this final round and was never again overtaken.
Conversely, Clergue and Maligo are struggling to close out their service games and are increasingly feeling the pressure from their opponents.
Bognard and Hofer finally conclude this enormous battle 6/3 in the third set.
A huge victory for the Hangar players
With this success, Lisa Bognard and Alice Hofer have probably achieved one of the best performances of their season.
Beating a pair of players accustomed to the very highest level of French football in such an intense final gives even more value to this title.
In a superb atmosphere at the Hangar, the locals delivered a true warrior's match to win this P1000 women's title.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
