After several surprises, marathon matches and a few controversies, Bordeaux Premier Padel P2 enters its decisive phase. The quarterfinals begin this Friday with the first real clashes between seeded teams. Between the favorites still in contention and a few surprise contenders, the spectacle promises to be thrilling.

Canovas and Rodriguez, the surprise quarter-finalists

If there was only one surprise to highlight in the women's draw, it would undoubtedly be that of  Noa Canovas and Maria Rodriguez .

The Spanish women caused a sensation by eliminating  Martina Calvo and Marta Ortega , seeded No. 6, who exit the tournament in their first match for the second consecutive time on the circuit Premier Padel, after their setback in Valladolid.

This qualification also highlights the performance achieved a few days ago by  Léa Godallier and Daiara Valenzuela The two players had won the  FIP Silver of Bandol  by dominating  Noa Canovas and Maria Rodriguez  in the final. A few days later, however, the Spanish women found themselves in the quarter-finals of a  Premier Padel P2 This demonstrates the extremely high level of this pair. It also shows that  Léa Godallier may not be so far from also being able to aim for her first quarter-final on the circuit Premier Padel  if she manages to string together this type of performance.

At the opening of the central track, at  10 hours Canovas and Rodriguez will meet again  Paula Josemaria and Bea Gonzalez , impressive since their victory at Valladolid P2. Given their current level of play, the Spanish women appear to be the overwhelming favorites to reach the final four… and why not achieve a Valladolid-Bordeaux double.

The favorites at the rendezvous

The other three women's quarter-finals will feature matches between seeded teams.

The  world number 1 Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea  will face  Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda , who are playing their last tournament together before changing partners. Virseda will soon be playing with  Jimena velasco while Guinart will form a new pair with  Alejandra Alonso .

On their side,  Ari Sánchez and Andrea Ustero  will be opposed to  Alejandra Salazar and Alejandra Alonso , seeded No. 7.

Finally  Claudia Fernández and Sofía Araújo , the defending champions, will open track 2 against  Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen , in what looks to be one of the most evenly matched quarterfinals in the women's draw.

An explosive masculine painting

In the men's competition, only one pair managed to reach the quarterfinals without being seeded:  Juan Tello and Maxi Arce .

The Argentinians won one of the best matches of the tournament on Thursday by defeating  Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero  after a three-set battle. They will now meet again  Mike Yanguas and Franco Stupaczuk  with the ambition of offering  Maxi Maple  a first semi-final on the circuit Premier Padel.

On the central track,  Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto  will find  Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz , in a duel between two of the strongest pairs in the tournament.

The last match of the day also promises to be explosive with  Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro  face  Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger .

The Spaniards Paquito and Di Nenno arrive full of confidence. Since their partnership, they have probably never displayed such a level of play, as evidenced by their first two victories in Bordeaux, won with authority.

On the other side, Lebrón and Augsburger will try to continue their rise in a match that promises to be one of the highlights of these quarter-finals.

After a particularly lively start to the week in Bordeaux, all the ingredients are there for a day of top-level competition. The favorites are still in the running, but the surprises seen since the beginning of the tournament serve as a reminder that in Bordeaux, nothing is yet decided.
