The next big change in world padel could well come from the Spanish women's national team. According to reports... BRAND Padel Legendary Carolina Navarro is said to be the overwhelming favorite to become the next coach of the Spanish national team.
The position had been vacant since January 2026 following the departure of Icíar Montes, who oversaw an extremely successful period at the helm of La Roja, winning four World Cup titles and four European Championship titles. She had also perfectly managed the generational transition after the great years of Alayeto, Patty Llaguno, and Eli Amatriaín.
A logical continuation for Spain
If his appointment is confirmed in the coming days or weeks, Spain would therefore be betting on another huge figure in world padel.
Having retired just a few months after her last tournament in Acapulco in 2025, Carolina Navarro possesses immense experience at the highest level. At 50, the former world number one has seen it all: titles with Spain, several generations of the circuit, and even participation in a World Championship with Sweden thanks to her dual nationality.
His profile appears as a true continuation of the philosophy of the Spanish national team: experience, leadership and immense knowledge of the highest level.
A new generation to integrate
Carolina Navarro could soon have to deal with several major issues. First, the upcoming World Team Championships where Spain will defend its title, but also the gradual integration of the new Spanish talents.
Players like Andrea Ustero , Alejandra Alonso or, Martina Calvo are already knocking very hard on the door of the national team and represent the future of Spanish padel.
Another important challenge: to support what will likely be the last major international events of Alejandra Salazar , one of the greatest players in the history of women's padel.
Spain remains a global benchmark
Spain remains the benchmark for women's padel worldwide. La Roja hasn't lost a world championship since 2008, except for its absence from the 2012 edition.
With Carolina Navarro, Spain would therefore continue to rely on the DNA of the great legends who have built its world domination for more than fifteen years.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
