The French Caroline Garcia enjoy a day of relaxation and support before his second round at the Miami Open against the world number 2 Iga swiatek. After beating the Hungarian Anna Bondar 6/0 7/6 In the first round, the former world number 4 in singles and number 2 in doubles made a stop at Motorola Razr Miami Premier Padel P1 to attend the match of her friend and former doubles partner, Alix Collombon.
A strong bond with Alix Collombon
“Alix is my friend, we’ve known each other since we were 10 years old,” she confides. Caroline Garcia, 2022 US Open semi-finalist and winner of the WTA Finals the same year. Double Roland-Garros doubles champion, she did not hesitate to come to the Miami Beach Convention Center to encourage Collombon and Araceli Martinez, opposed to Ale Salazar and Veronica Virseda.
Sitting in the stands next to her fiancé Borja Duran, she savors the moment:
"We played tennis together, so it's nice to be here to support her. And who knows, maybe she'll be here tomorrow to cheer me on against Swiatek. That would be great."
A growing passion for padel
Beyond support for Collombon, Caroline Garcia is increasingly interested in padel.
“I play it when I have free time and I love it. My fiancé and I are actually going to launch a podcast dedicated to padel, after having done one on tennis. It will be called Padel Inside the Club »
She explains what attracts her to this growing sport:
"What's great is its very social side. Unlike tennis, it's a sport where you always play with two people, so there's a shared dimension and a lot of fun. It's growing enormously in several countries, and it will be interesting to see how it evolves."
If tennis remains his profession, Caroline Garcia intends to continue playing padel for fun :
"It's a relaxing sport for me. And of course, I will continue to encourage Alix and enjoy the beauty of this game."
