The first decade of the 21st century saw the consecration of a legendary pair. With 115 titles won from 2002 to 2015, Díaz/Belasteguín is the most successful duo in the history of Padel.
If we stick to the creation of World Padel Tour in 2013, the pair are in 4th place among the most victorious, in just two seasons. This shows that she has soared above her sport and that her records seem untouchable.
Associated to Pablo Lima, Fernando Belasteguín is also at the top of this ranking with 35 tracks since 2013.
This record, more accessible, could have (or even should) have been beaten by Galan/Lebron, who were only two victories away from matching him. However, the two Spaniards separated under the conditions we know at the start of 2024. They can therefore no longer beat this result for the moment.
Young people with long teeth
Another duo, much younger, seems to have overflowing ambition. In a year and a half of cooperation, the two players have already won 22 titles, Málaga being the latest victory.
Arturo Coello et Agustín Tapia have formed the world's best pair since their association. Only the Chingotto/Galan pair is capable of tickling them, as she was able to show Genoa.
Well established in third place among the most victorious pairs since 2013, there is no doubt that the two players will seize first place within a few months.
Indeed, this series gives them an average of 14 titles won each season. In comparison, Galan/Lebron won 11 trophies each year during their association, while Belasteguín/Lima and Díaz/Belasteguín each won a little less than 9.
Will they last over time?
That's the big question. We know that Díaz/Belasteguín was able to achieve this record thanks to the fact that the partners played together for 13 seasons, extraordinary longevity.
As for whether Coello/Tapia will be able to reproduce this feat, the indications point towards a yes. First of all, the two players are friends in life, which can push them to continue the adventure.
In addition to that, it seems that it is a optimal pair. Arturo Coello is probably the best left-hander on the circuit and Agustín Tapia is theone of the best players in the world, or even the best. Given their past results, a change of partner would be a step backwards for both.
With the 25 major tournaments organized each year by Premier Padel, it appears that the pair continues to have a large number of opportunities to reach and surpass this record. If she continues at this pace, she should be able to achieve this goal within 6 or 7 seasons.
Starting with Madrid next September for a remake of the last two finals ?
