At just 15 years old, Eduardo Carmo is already one of the brightest prospects in Portuguese padel. Nationally ranked number 1 in the U16 category and 13th in the FIP Promises rankings, the young player continues his rise with a clear ambition: to keep improving, experience the international circuit, and one day break into the world's top 10. An interview with one of the talents of the new generation. 

 A passion born thanks to his father 

Eduardo Carmo discovered padel relatively late, at the age of 9 or 10. It was by accompanying his father and friends to a club that he caught the bug.

«  My father used to play with three or four friends. I decided to try padel and I immediately loved the sport.  »

Since then, the Portuguese player has never left the slopes.

 Already among the best of his generation 

Today, Eduardo is  number 1 Portuguese player in the under-16 category  et  13th in the FIP Promises ranking A status he is proud of, without wanting to be complacent about it.

«  I'm very proud of what I've accomplished, but that doesn't mean the work is finished. I want to continue training to improve my ranking even further.  »

 Daily training in Aveiro 

The young Portuguese player continues his progress in his home city of Aveiro , where he trains with his coach at a rate of  seven to eight hours a week .

A rhythm that allows him to continue his development while preparing for the international competitions in which he regularly participates.

 The pride of representing Portugal 

Despite his young age, Eduardo Carmo has already represented Portugal in major junior competitions, notably at the Euro Juniors held in Porto.

An experience he describes as an immense privilege.

«  I really enjoy representing my country. It's an honor and I always try to do it in the best way possible.  »

Among his best memories are the victory against Sweden, but also the journey with the Portuguese national team.

«  The match against Sweden remains my best memory. I also really enjoyed being among the four best teams in the tournament.  »

 A season that reignites the momentum 

After a more complicated previous year, Eduardo believes he has found his way back to the right track. His results bear this out, with  three titles on the FIP Promises circuit  this season.

«  The year has started very well. Last year, we didn't always manage to show our true level, but we continued to work and progress.  »

A consistency that confirms his rise to prominence within his generation.

 A first discovery of France 

On the occasion of  FIP Promises Paris Eduardo Carmo discovered France for the first time. An experience he particularly enjoyed, both for the atmosphere and for the people he met.

«  I really enjoyed discovering France. I hope to come back one day, this time for a holiday. I also enjoy meeting players from other countries.  »

 The FIP circuit and the world top 10 are in their sights. 

The young Portuguese player is already looking ahead. His goal now is to gain more experience on the  CUPRA FIP Tour , to travel and accumulate experience on the international circuit.

In the longer term, his dream is clear.

«  I would like to break into the world's top 10. Then we'll see how far I can go.  »

When asked which player inspires him the most, Eduardo Carmo immediately cites  Arturo Coello .

«  I greatly appreciate his work and his career path.  »

At just 15 years old, Eduardo Carmo already has a clear vision of his future. Between constant progress, international experience and measured ambition, the Portuguese player is advancing step by step with the goal of establishing himself permanently among the best players of his generation, before aiming even higher.
