Portugal gets its revenge. France, who had beaten Portugal in the group stage, lost 2/0 in the small final of the 2024 European Junior Championships. There will therefore be no no medal for the Junior Girls Team in this tournament.

As throughout the week, these are Augustine Charpentier et Zia Debroy who started the day. The first match was difficult for the U14s who met Andrea Achando and Carolina Santos. The Debroy / Charpentier pair was beaten in two sets: 6 / 1 6 / 2.

All hopes rested on the shoulders of Feryel Bekhedda et Victoria Isaac. The two young French women were up against Valentina Pestana and Francisca Santos. Despite a close first set, the French women lost 6/4. In the second, the Bekhedda/Isaac pair failed to change the trend and lost 6 / 4 6 / 2.

The French had managed to defeat Portugal in the group match. While the U14s had lost in the first match, Victoria Isaac and Feryel Bekhedda had managed to win in two sets in the U16s. This time, the match did not turn out in their favour, with in particular a tactical change that seems to have been crucial for the Portuguese: Valentina Pestana replaced Iara Rocha.

Despite a certain disappointment, we can only congratulate the Blues on their fine performance in these Championships!
