After a great run at FIP Bronze of Kaunas, Carla Touly (82st) et Ana Dominguez Gracia (75th) lost in the final to the Spanish pair composed of Nuria Vivancos (88th) et Xenia Clasca (84th) on the score of 6 / 2 6 / 3.

A complicated finale from the start

From the very first exchanges, the Franco-Spanish pair were taken by the throat by their opponents, who were very comfortable at the net. Dominguez and Touly found themselves in defensive difficulty, committing several unforced errors which quickly cost them two breaks in the first set, logically conceded 6/2.

The second set resumes on the same bases. Vivancos and Clasca are very dominant, stringing together decisive points and quickly taking the lead with a double break (4/1). But this break is anecdotal since the domination remains in favor of Vivancos and Clasca, who rebreak in the process. At 5/2, Touly and Dominguez hang on and manage to break, but Vivancos and Clasca do not hesitate and manage to rebreak once again to win the set 6/3.

A positive start to the season despite everything

Despite the disappointment of losing the final, Carla Touly and Ana Dominguez can be satisfied with their start to the year on the FIP circuit. After winning the FIP Bronze Gothenburg, reached the quarter-finals in FIP Gold Dubai, and now a final in Kaunas, their record remains very encouraging. They demonstrate great consistency.

The two players will be back next week at the FIP Bronze Manila.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
