Le FIP Finals 2025 started at Shanghai, the final stage of the FIP circuit this season.
As every year, the format remains the same: only 16 pairs of men's shoes and 16 pairs of women's shoes secure their entry to this event reserved for the elite of the rankings. Even if, this time, several Major absences leave the field surprisingly open.
A tight competition… but completely open
With so few teams involved, everything is happening very quickly.
And from the very first rounds, it was a bloodbath in the men's draw.
- Ruiz / Esbri (ts2) fall in the first round, beaten by Hernandez / Collado.
- This morning, it's the pair Alonso / Bautista (ts1) who gets knocked out in the quarter-finals, 6 / 1 6 / 3 by Jimenez Casas / Sanchez Blasco.
Two seeded players are out before the semi-finals, which opens up the draw.
Among women, the hierarchy is holding for the time being.
In the women's table, the favorites remain in pole position.
- Fassio Goyeneche / Llaguno Zielinski (ts2) which are essential 6 / 1 6 / 1 quarter-finals
- The Argentinians Osoro / Jensen (ts1) won their eighth yesterday 6 / 0 6 / 0
The semi-finals could offer the first real ambushes with the four top seeds who will face off.
A surprisingly accessible painting
It is surely the most surprising point of this edition:
The tournament, which is supposed to bring together the top pairs of the FIP Tour, has left some doors open this year.
Normally, It is impossible for players outside the top 50-60 to hope to join this tournament.
But with so many "absent" players, Some French pairs might have tried a move.
Especially when you know that:
- The winning pair leaves with 225 point
- Seulement three matches to win to reach the final
- The men's table is already reduced
This is the kind of opportunity that can completely revive a ranking and end the year on a high note.
