After their  A wonderful week at FIP Platinum Marseille ,  Johan Bergeron  et  Timeo Fonteny  continued in Egypt with the  FIP Silver from Wadi El Natrun The French, seeded 4th, confirmed their good momentum… before stumbling in the quarter-finals against a stronger pair.

A controlled start to the tournament

The French team's journey had, however, started in an ideal way.

In the round of 32, Bergeron/Fonteny controlled their opening match against a Greek pair, victory  6 / 3 6 / 3 , with a serious and focused match.
The same scenario played out in the next round against two local players who had come through qualifying. Despite  complicated conditions Despite the wind and sand, the French were able to adapt and prevail once again.  6 / 3 6 / 3 .

Without faltering, they secured their ticket to the quarter-finals, continuing their upward trajectory observed in Marseille.

 A quarter too high

In the quarter-finals, the level clearly rose a notch against  Dylan Cuello  et  Martin Abud the latter already noticed during the FIP Platinum Marseille.

This time, there was no contest: defeat  6 / 1 6 / 3 .

Clear-headed after the match,  Johan Bergeron  acknowledged:

"There's nothing to say, they were much better than us in the match."

 Points and continuity

Despite this quarter-final exit, Bergeron and Fonteny leave with  14 FIP points  additional.
A generally positive tour between Marseille and Egypt, which confirms the potential of this  new french pair .

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
