They were the favorites, they confirmed their status… but they gave themselves a real scare.  Jeremy Robert  et  Olivier Guy de Chamisso  won the title  U18  du  FIP Promises Paris by WME Sports  after a completely crazy final against the Spanish  Julen Bolumar Orti / Ivan Ranera Pedrero A victory achieved at  super tie-break , despite having had the match in hand for a long time.

 Domination for more than one set 

The French quickly showed why they were considered favorites.

Playing in the day's conditions, Robert and Guy de Chamisso dictated the pace of the rallies. The Spaniards struggled to find the right length for their lobs and made numerous unforced errors, while the French imposed their rhythm.

The first set logically fell into their hands ( 6/3 ).

The scenario then seemed to repeat itself in the second set. Robert and Guy de Chamisso played their padel game, broke their opponents' serve twice and took the lead  5/1 , with  two match points  at stake.

The title was within their grasp.

But when it came time to conclude, everything fell apart.

The French may have started to see themselves as winners already. The intensity dropped, mistakes multiplied, and at the same time, the Spanish regained all their confidence.

Their lob quality improved significantly with parallel lobs, they took more initiative and gradually got back into the game.

Despite their two breaks of advantage, Robert and Guy de Chamisso saw their opponents catch up.

À  6/5 they still obtain  two new match points , without being able to convert them.

The Spanish team snatched the tie-break, then won it to push the final to  super tie-break .

 This time, the French are no longer trembling. 

After letting slip a second set that they controlled from start to finish, many could have collapsed.

The French did exactly the opposite.

In the super tie-break, they regained their aggression, managed the important points better and showed real mental strength to regain control of the final.

A reaction that allowed them to clinch the title after a nail-biting finish.

This victory confirms what many already suspected.

After their excellent results on the  FIP Tour adults , and in particular their title at  FIP Bronze Marnes ,  Jeremy Robert  et  Olivier Guy de Chamisso  establish themselves as the benchmarks of the category  U18 .

For  Olivier Guy de Chamisso This victory also has a special flavor. Already the winner of the  FIP Promises Paris  last season with  Lucas Pillon he retains his title, this time alongside  Jeremy Robert .

They would undoubtedly have liked to wrap up the final more quickly, a final they largely dominated for almost a set and a half. But by knowing how to bounce back after seeing their lead evaporate, the two Frenchmen also demonstrated a quality essential at the highest level: knowing how to win even when everything seems to be slipping away.
