Since yesterday, a big surprise has hit the community of paddle : the YouTube channel of World Padel Tour (WPT) has disappeared, taking with it years of historical content. The iconic videos, which traced the evolution of this sport and the highlights of the competitions, are no longer available.

These are our friends from Padel Review who noticed the situation and whose analysis we translate / comment on.

Who is responsible ?

The mystery is now solved. The YouTube channel of the WPT now belongs to Premier Padel, who renamed the channel and split it into two separate accounts:

  • Premier Padel More : This already well-known account continues to broadcast live events and other content related to Premier Padel. He currently has 330 000 subscribers.

  • Premier Padel Official : This channel, formerly that of the WPT, has been emptied of all its historical content. It nevertheless displays an impressive 712 000 subscribers.

An uncertain future for the WPT archives?

While this change may not be permanent, an important question remains: what will happen to all those videos that are part of the history of the paddle ? Yes Premier Padel has chosen to reclaim the old WPT channel, enthusiasts are hoping that the content will not be permanently deleted.

For all fans of this sport, these videos represent much more than just matches: they are witnesses to a sports evolution and the archives of an essential era of padel.

A call for respect for the history of padel

Many fans invite Premier Padel "to respect this legacy and not erase these historic moments. This content is an integral part of our sport and must be preserved. WPT videos tell the story of many years of competition, effort, victories and defeats, which do not deserve to be erased.".
