Opportunities but too many inaccuracies in the first set

The challenge was inevitably greater than in the first round. Jiménez/Arroyo, in particular, were coming off a  quarter-final at Madrid P1 , where they had taken down Stupaczuk / Sanz.

However, Fonteny/Moragues started their match well.  4/3 They earned a break point that could have given them the lead in the set. They failed to convert it, and the Spanish then made the difference.

Nacho Moragues The pair, who had been particularly solid the previous day, made more mistakes. A few avoidable errors occurred at crucial moments, and Jiménez/Arroyo capitalized to clinch the first set.  6/4 .

Fonteny/Moragues remain in contact, but in the key moments,  Jiménez and Arroyo tighten the game More precise when the tension rises, the Spanish make the difference and conclude the match in two sets:  6 / 4 7 / 6 .

A defeat that will inevitably leave some regrets. There was an opportunity to take this match to a third set. But against a pair of this caliber, even the smallest lapses in precision are immediately punished.

Fonteny has shown that he can compete at this level.

Despite the elimination, the record of  Paris Major  The outlook for Timéo Fonteny remains very positive.

For his opening match, partnered with Moragues, the Frenchman had delivered a strong performance by dominating  Álvaro Meléndez / José Luis González 6/1 6/4 , two much higher ranked players. Against Jiménez/Arroyo, the level was even higher. And despite the defeat,  Fonteny showed that he could keep up against established players on the circuit Premier Padel .

With this elimination, only one thing remains:  two French hopes  in the men's draw of the Paris Major:  Dylan Guichard , associated with Clément Geens, and  Thomas Leygue alongside Jesús Moya.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
