Finally a ladies' final French Championships which looks more balanced than usual. This time, Carla Touly and Jessica Ginier were assured of not facing Alix Collombon and Léa Godallier before the final unlike in 2023.
Stronger than last year, with growing experience and progress in all areas of the game, they arrive with a Carla Touly who has made a giant leap in one year, and a Jessica Ginier who is still as offensive and physically at the top. These two players seem ready to offer the most balanced women's final in at least five years.
Facing them, the No. 1 seeds, Alix Collombon and Léa Godallier, left only crumbs to their opponents, distributing a 6/0 in each round, except in the quarter-finals. Up until now, they have mostly enjoyed themselves on the court, quietly dominating the table. In the semi-finals, they were on the verge of inflicting a double 6/0 on the No. 3 seeds, Fiona Ligi and Tiffany Phaysouphanh.
On paper, Carla and Jessica are the outsiders. However, their performance can also worry their opponents. In the semi-final, they were impressive, winning two straight sets against the No. 4 seed, Lucile Pothier and Charlotte Soubrié, both members of the French team (6/2, 6/2).
Given the performances of the two pairs, this final promises to be different from the previous ones: either Ginier and Touly confirm their rise to power and succeed in making Godallier and Collombon waver, or it is just an illusion, and the number 1 seed remains firmly installed at the top of French padel.
