This marks the end of an important chapter in the women's circuit. After six and a half years of collaboration, Gemma Triay and his trainer Rodri Ovide They have mutually agreed to put their professional relationship on hold. A separation without tension, announced with great respect, which marks the end of one of the most solid projects of recent years.
A duo that defined an era
Together, Triay and Ovide built a model of consistency and performance. Their work led them to the world number 1 place, with a structure based on trust, stability and a clear vision of the game.
Their joint statement perfectly sums up the state of mind:
"Six and a half incredible years, sharing dreams, challenges and unforgettable moments. We reached the top of the rankings. Today, by mutual agreement, we have decided to take a break."
Beyond the results, both emphasize the human dimension:
"We are a family."
A message that illustrates the depth of a bond that goes far beyond the bench.
A separation without a sporting break
This decision is not made in the context of a crisis. On the contrary, it comes at a time when Triay remains at the top and continues his project with Delfi BreaThis is more of a change of cycle, after several seasons of stability.
From a sporting perspective, their legacy is clear:
– a sustainable project
– a consistent presence in the finals
– an ability to reinvent oneself in difficult times
– and the conquest of the world throne.
What staff will Triay and Brea have?
The question now becomes strategic: who will take over the technical management from the Triay/Brea duo?
The most logical path leads to Jorge Martínez, already coach of Argentina, which would allow for natural continuity. But the option of a new profile is not ruled out, with the idea of bringing a different perspective to an already very structured project.
A turning point in Triay's career
After years of stability on the bench, Gemma Triay enters a new phase of her career. A coaching change always represents a key moment, especially for a player established at the top.
One thing is certain: the collaboration with Rodri Ovide leaves a strong mark on the recent history of women's padel.
Their paths diverge, but the cycle they built remains one of the most significant on the circuit.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
