Le fate has decided so : one of the most popular pairs from the end of last season will be making its return to the slopes... for the Tarragona Costa Daurada Premier Padel P1, scheduled from July 28 to August 3.
Affected by a series of injuries which upset the circuit tables Premier Padel, Momo González et Eduardo Alonso will team up again for a tournament. The announcement was confirmed in the latest update of the registration list: the two Spaniards will play together under the banner of seeded 6.
A temporary association… but promising
This surprise duo is not, however, expected to last. It is a temporary replacement solution, linked to the absence of their respective partners: Jon sanz et Jairus Baptist, both forced to withdraw due to injury.
But this return has something to revive beautiful memories among the fans. Because Momo and Edu had already shared the track during the second half of 2024… and brilliantly. Under the orders of Gaby Reca, they had finished the year strongly, reaching the semi-finals of the Premier Padel Finals in Barcelona.
An epic that left its mark
During this prestigious tournament, Gonzalez and Alonso had created a sensation in eliminating Chingotto and Galán in the quarter-finals. A prestigious victory, the result of an imperial level of play, which had propelled them into semi final, where they had finally fallen against Jon Sanz and Coki Nieto (6-3 7-5), future champions.
Ce meeting in Tarragona will therefore offer a beautiful nostalgic parenthesis for these two Spanish players… and a great opportunity to shine together again. Even if this association is temporary, it could well sow doubt and make some people want to see them side by side more often.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
