Le Padel Italian has always been at the center of the chessboard of padel global. Even when Italy was a nation where the padel was developing little, Italy was present.

Italy and FIP

If we know today, the current president of the International Federation of Padel, Luigi Carraro, he succeeded… another Italian, Daniel Patti who had himself been President for a term and a half: 2012-2016 and 2016-2018. Daniel Patti's second term had been very eventful.

Still, Daniel Patti hoped a few weeks before continuing the adventure as president of the FIP. But the pressure was too much and many nations pushed for change.

Luigi Carraro will thus be elected President of the FIP from January 1, 2018 during an extraordinary assembly that took place at the Mondial de Padel from Paraguay (2017).

What is surprising is that we must go back to 2006 to find the record of the second Spanish president at the head of the FIP: Eduardo Góngora Benítez de Lugo. (2003-2006). The first president of FIP will be Spanish: Julio Alegría Artiach (1991-1993).

And then we could also talk about competitions of the FIP organized in Rome in particular.

In recent years, the padel takes off in Italy. Players and clubs are increasingly demanding.

Italy and World Padel Tour

Italy has already hosted the World Padel Tour. It was in 2016. An Exhibition with the best players in the world.

Italy gives the cover this time with an Open or a Master that would take place in Rome in 2020.

And Italy is already thinking of proposing another stage, on the side of Milan, even if it remains only a project for the moment and we would talk more about 2021, if everything goes well by then.

Le World Padel Tour : Rome and Milan?

Yes, Italy is a stronghold of padel global. Since 2012, it has been undoubtedly at the center of the game. Since the start of the year, the FIP has clearly made a new start with the establishment for example of the FIP TOUR. It can also be proud of having unified a world ranking in collaboration with the World Padel Tour.

And inevitably, we talk more and more about the Olympic Games. An ambition assumed by its President: Luigi Carraro. We wish him good luck.
