The French delegation did not achieve the hoped-for success this Tuesday at  Foro Italico in Rome . For the ladies,  Léa Godallier  et  Carla Toully  were both eliminated in their first match, leaving  Alix Collombon  as the sole French representative in the women's draw. In the men's draw,  Dylan Guichard  failed to take advantage of his wild-card alongside Italian Marco Cassetta and lost in the first round.

At the same time, several in-form pairs confirmed their positive momentum. Finalists of the FIP Platinum in Tirana,  David Gala and Enzo Jensen  continued their momentum, while several qualifiers caused surprises in the men's draw.

A black Tuesday for our French players at the Foro Italico

After his title at  FIP Bronze from Marnes-la-Coquette  alongside Lucia Peralta,  Léa Godallier  played his first matches with his new partner  Ariadna Canellas But the beginnings of this new association are complicated.

Having already been beaten in the first round of the FIP Bronze in the Netherlands last week, the French and Spanish players suffered another early exit in Rome. They lost to  Claudia Escacena and Patricia Martinez  in two rounds,  7 / 6 6 / 4 .

A defeat that was inevitably frustrating, as the draw seemed to offer a real opportunity to reach the second round in this Italian Major.

A few hours later, it was  Carla Toully  who in turn left the tournament. Partnered with the Spaniard  Amanda Lopez The French number 3 was beaten by the qualifiers.  Carmen Castillon and Maria Portillo  in two sets,  6 / 4 7 / 6 .

Now all that remains is Alix Collombon  to represent France in the women's draw.

For the men, the day was no better. After the elimination of  Thomas Leygue  during qualifying,  Dylan Guichard  was the last Frenchman entered. He received a wild-card along with the Italian.  Frame Cassetta The French left-hander was defeated after a hard-fought match against  Nacho Vilariño and Mario del Castillo ,  6/3 3/6 6/3 .

A missed opportunity for Guichard and Cassetta who could have faced the pair in the next round  Tolito Aguirre / Alex Arroyo , seeded number 12 in the tournament.

Gala/Jensen still in good form, Cabeza/Gonzalez surprising

Revelation of  FIP Platinum of Tirana where they had reached the final before losing to  Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas ,  David Gala and Enzo Jensen  continue to ride their excellent momentum.

Opposing the Argentinians  Juani Rubini and Maxi Sanchez The Spanish team had to work hard after losing the first set before turning the match around:  2/6 6/3 6/4 They will meet again in the next round.  Javier Garcia and José Jiménez Casas .

Another notable performance of the day was that of the qualifiers.  Curro Cabeza and Mariano Gonzalez The two players pulled off one of the day's biggest upsets by eliminating  Enrique Goenaga and Andrés Fernández Lancha  after nearly two hours of fighting,  6/4 2/6 7/5 They will face each other in the second round  Alex Ruiz and Juanlu Esbrí .

Italy Major: Bad day for the French, all the first round results

The qualifiers also went well for  Manuel Aragón and Albert Roglán , fallers of  Sanyo Gutiérrez  who can no longer do it on the circuit and  Maxi Sanchez Blasco  in two rounds,  7 / 6 6 / 3 .

Finally, one of the most significant events of this first day came from  Pol Hernandez and Guillermo Collado , authors of a very impressive comeback against  Pablo Lijó and Pablo García , beaten  3/6 6/4 6/2 .
