The Qatar Major marked the end of a project as ambitious as it was fragile. : the one formed at the start of the 2025 season between Javi Garrido et Martín Di Nenno. After only four tournaments played together on the circuit Premier Padel, the two players have decided to end their collaboration.

In an interview given to The little one Padel, Javi Garrido spoke with great sincerity about the reasons for this separation and what he remembers from this brief adventure.

A project that got carried away too quickly

The 24-year-old Andalusian does not hide his frustration:

“What bothers me a little is that everything happened so quickly. We didn't have time to find a good level of play, especially because of circumstances in preseason: a change of coach, injuries, and a lot of pressure related to the expectation of immediate results.”

He adds that this shared anxiety was not handled well by the pair:

“We were in a hurry, obsessed with winning, and I think that's what precipitated Martín's decision.”

An intact friendship

Despite this rapid separation, Garrido insists on the solidity of his relationship with Di Nenno off-piste:

“We really wanted to play together again. We get along really well, we're friends, and we had fun. It's a shame, but everyone goes their own way.”

One last tournament without pressure

Recalling their last tournament in Doha, The Cordouan admits to having played with a certain lightness :

“When you know it's the last one, you play with less pressure. You're more relaxed. It's sad, but that's also what sport is all about.”

A new beginning with Tino Libaak

Javi Garrido will now turn to a new adventure alongside Argentinian Tino Libaak, with whom he will compete in the Brussels P2. An alliance that promises a lot, between two young talents with great potential.

“I haven't had time to talk to him much yet, but I love his style. He has great potential and a real sense of humility. It'll be up to us to quickly find the right rhythms.”

With this new pair on the horizon, Garrido is already looking ahead to a future full of promise. But he will undoubtedly not soon forget this brief interlude with Di Nenno, marked by great expectations and shared emotions.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
