Johan Bergeron is now the second French player in the FIP rankings, behind Thomas Leygue, and ahead of Bastien Blanqué. A symbolic but significant change, achieved thanks to his semi-final at FIP Bronze Lyttos argued with Julien Seurin.
The Lyonnais had temporarily left the circuit, but the two-year ranking format at the time allowed him to return to the race more quickly:
“I had quite a few points before I quit, and I was lucky that the ranking was done over two years and not just one. My retirement year was almost invisible, and that saved me.”
More than a year after his break, Bergeron even feels better than before . More experienced, he handles key moments and frustration better. His victories with Bastien Blanqué against players in the top 60-70, and big matches against pairs in the top 35-40, have proven to him that he can compete at a high level.

“When I play in the top 70, I know I can really win. Before, it was more complicated. I play my game, point by point, without overplaying, and it works.”
His “retirement” finally gave him a big mental boost :
“I came back with a lot of motivation. When I'm at 100%, I really give it my all… The victories with Bastien have taken us to a new level.”
With only 32 points needed to integrate the world top 100 , Bergeron could reach this level quickly. And why not continue to gain ground to aim higher.
However, the rest of the male tricolor clan is falling back . Guichard, Joris, Raichman, Fonteny ...all lose places due to not having played recently on the international circuit. Without new points, the rankings erode.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
