Alejandro Galán et Federico Chingotto, recent winners in Milan, will ultimately not be participating. Their withdrawal puts an end to an unprecedented participation for a duo from the world's top 4 in an FIP Platinum event.

A setback in the race for the throne

Initially registered for go get points On Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia, the two players had planned an ambitious double sequence: Lyon this week, then Newgiza the following week, where the number 1s are not registered. A scenario that could have reduced the gap to less than 1.000 points in the Race ranking. But physical reality won out over sporting calculations.

Jorge Martínez: “We had to preserve Ale’s health”

In an interview with The little one Padel, their trainer Jorge Martínez explained the reasons for the package:

“The motive has mostly to do with the physical overloadWe've had a lot of games in a row over the last few weeks, and the fatigue has built up. Ale, who is taller and makes wider movements, was feeling a high tension in the back. After the victory in Milan, we thought it best to prioritize rest rather than risk injury.”

Objective: arrive fresh for the end of the season

The Spanish-Argentine pair, in great form for several weeks, therefore prefer to ease off before the final stretch, after the Newgiza P2. “Health comes first,” Martínez summed up, aware that the battle for the world number one spot will be decided by consistency between now and the end of the year.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
