Next week is the P1 of Tarragona, the occasion for “El Gato” to begin a new association with Pablo Cardona, a new partner that was not necessarily expected by the Argentinian who confided his frustration to Rodrigo Vazquez's microphone...
A surprise separation
Juan Tello does not hide his surprise. After a convincing start to the season alongside Martín Di Nenno with several semi-finals and a great dynamic, the duo nevertheless decided to separate. A decision taken unilaterally by Di Nenno , who preferred to associate with Leo Augsburger.
“We didn't even get to discuss it in person. He called me during an event to tell me his decision. It's a decision that's still hard to understand today.”
The Argentinian keeps a real bitter taste of this decision which he would have definitely wanted to discuss with his partner, once again the circuit shows cruelty when it comes to find a new play partner.
Results and good understanding
However, nothing suggested this separation. Tello explains that he has found a lot of pleasure again playing with Say Nenno, within an ambitious project which had quickly returned to the Top 8 global. But as is often the case in modern padel, results are no longer enough: “This is an era where projects only last a few months. Padel is losing its essence,” he laments.
Last week for their last tournament together at the P1 of Malaga , they logically bowed to Coello/Tapia in quarter-final 6/4 6/3.
Incomprehension over the Cardona/Augsburger split
Asked about the other “bombs” of the circuit, the end of the association between Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger, Tello does not hide his incomprehension either: “It was the version 2.0 of Coello/Tapia They had beaten everyone, even Galán and Chingotto. This kind of separation is damaging to the sport.”
The opinions follow each other and are similar regarding this separation , it remains to be seen who will be right, it is the turn of Leo Augsburger and Pablo Cardona to respond on the track with their new partners.
He discovered padel in 2016 in Nantes and quickly became attached to the game, even climbing to 474th place in France.
