Juan Tello is turning a new page. After a promising half-season alongside  Martín Di Nenno , “El Gato” was surprised by a  unexpected breakup , decided by his compatriot. A hard blow for the Argentinian, who was quick to bounce back by teaming up with  paul cardona , a young 20-year-old Spanish left-hander with enormous potential. He spoke at length in a  interview given to Diario Sport , in which he returns to this separation, his ambitions, and his new duo.

 A separation difficult to digest

Tello does not hide his  disappointment  on Di Nenno's decision: "I don't understand this break on the sporting level. We were starting to play really well, with solid results:  three semi-finals ,  two quarters , and only one defeat outside of the  world top 2 .” Despite everything, the Argentinian respects his ex-partner's choice and affirms that they have remained friends: “We agreed to leave that on the pitch.”

A new project with Pablo Cardona

The arrival of  paul cardona  by his side happened quickly. “As soon as I knew Martín wanted to break up, I immediately thought of Pablo. We share the same coach,  Seba Nerone , and we had already played together in training.” What does Tello admire about his new partner? His  maturity , her  rage to win , and of course…  its striking power . “He is 20 years old, but already has a real capacity to give his all on every point. And then,  he smashes the ball  ! "

 A natural complementarity

Despite past complications playing with left-handers (as with  Álex Ruiz ), Tello believes that his  experiment  will allow him to adapt better: “Cardona is aggressive, like me. I think we will complement each other well. I can bring him  regularity ,  tranquility in hot moments He brings me some  energy ,  send ,  intensity .” And with a duo ranked among the  top eight seeds , the conditions are ideal for performing.

 The influence of Seba Nerone

His coach  Seba Nerone  played a crucial role in his  back in shape . “He was my anchor. He helped me to refocus, to regain confidence after a  Chaotic 2024 . Without him, my  psychologist  and my  family , I wouldn't have made it." Tello now says he's ready to  regain consistency , an essential aspect to aim for the highly coveted  Premier Padel Finals .

A critical view of the current circuit

Tello does not avoid the question of the many  separations  that shake the circuit: “It’s  negative for padel . It makes our sport more  unstable , less  professional . People get tired of it, they wonder how long each duet will last.” The Argentinian still believes in  long-term projects ,  stability  visit us at the  long-term work .

 Affirmed ambitions

For the end of the season, Tello wants to give his all. He is aiming for a place in the  Premier Padel Finals  and wishes to consolidate its presence in the  world top 8 . "With  Cardona , I want to go far. I feel that we can  beat anyone . "

À  29 years ,  Juan Tello  has perhaps never been more determined to become a  major player in world padel . And with  paul cardona , it could well form a  new explosive pair  to follow very closely.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
