The town of Soler in Occitanie is continuing its development with a major project combining sport, nature and sustainable urban planning. In line with the rehabilitation of the Observatory Park and the schoolyard de-impermeabilization program, a new space will soon see the light of day: the park "The Flara", which will notably host a indoor padel complex.

A project designed for and with residents

Since 2019, the municipality has initiated a consultation with residents in order to identify the facilities to be prioritized. In partnership with theCatalan Pyrenees Mediterranean Urban Planning Agency (AURCA), this dialogue allowed clear priorities to emerge: creation of a park, playgrounds, sports infrastructure, community facilities, as well as a library and a performance hall.

An indoor padel complex with 11 courts

In February 2024, a project leader proposed the implementation of a indoor padel complex including 11 short and clubhouse, all integrated into a soundproof structure thanks to double-skin cladding. This new facility is fully in line with the municipal desire to revitalize the western districts and offer residents a modern sports space.

A green lung in the heart of the city

Beyond the sports infrastructure, the project provides for the creation of a vast 6 m² natural space, aimed at strengthening biodiversity and providing a real green lung to the city. In all, 9 m² of surface area will be de-impermeabilized, promoting the retention of rainwater and reducing heat islands.

The amenities will include:

  • Playgrounds et relaxation areas for families,
  • Petanque grounds, integrated into a green setting,
  • Gentle paths with pedestrian and cycle paths, in accordance with the municipal policy of promoting soft mobility.

Optimized and secure access

The accessibility of the site has also been designed with sustainable development in mind. A car park permeable and vegetated will facilitate access to the complex. In addition, a new road connecting Juniper Street to Sequoia Street will be created to improve traffic flow around schools.

"We also plan to integrate pedestrian and cycle paths which will allow safer access to the college."
Armelle REVEL-FOURCADE, Mayor of Soler

A structuring project for Le Soler

With the opening of The Flara, Le Soler strengthens its attractiveness by combining urban development, sports infrastructure and environmental commitment. This future hub of life will undoubtedly become an essential place for residents, between padel practice, outdoor relaxation and conviviality.
