It took only two sets for Lorena Rufo and Beatriz Caldera to win the final of the FIP GOLD Lyon, delivering a top-level performance against the number 1 seeded pair, Alejandra Alonso et Andrea UsteroThe two Spaniards continue their series of successes, after their victory in Valladolid.
A one-sided first set
From the first exchanges, Rufo/Caldera takes the lead with an opening break. Despite a quick debreak, they immediately regain control of the match thanks to a Beatriz Caldera impressive. His powerful parallel smash poses big problems for Alejandra Alonso, unable to find a way to stop it. Once the break is confirmed, the intensity increases a notch, but it is the number 3 seed who imposes her physical domination. Forced into making mistakes, Ustero/Alonso fail to find their rhythm and concede the first set with a harsh 6-2.
A second set mastered by Rufo/Caldera
The start of the second set is difficult for Ustero/Alonso. Trying risky shots in the hope of getting back into the game, they rush and concede an early break. Andrea Ustero, in particular, multiplies the faults on the smash, offering opportunities to their opponents. Opposite, Rufo/Caldera remained focused, varied the pace of play perfectly and limited unforced errors. Despite a break that brought the score back to 4-3, the Spanish pair did not let up the pressure. They rolled out their game plan to ensure a clear victory, winning the second set 6-3.
Final score: 6-2, 6-3

With this victory, Lorena Rufo et Beatriz Caldera confirm their status by adding a new title to their list of achievements, after their triumph at Valladolid. These two players continue to prove that they are a force to be reckoned with on the international padel scene.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
