At the P2000 of Impact Stadium in La Rochelle, Manon Marcarie and Cassandra Senjean created one of the surprises of the tournament. The number 1 seed, Dardaine / Sireix, was eliminated in the round of XNUMX by this ambitious pair. A look back at their performance and their projects.
An unexpected but controlled match
Manon and Cassandra look back on this decisive match:
"We were supposed to be seeded 1-8, but we ended up being seeded 9. That led us to play the top seeds directly after our first-round win. It was a tricky situation, but we played at a very good level throughout the match. The score of 1-7, 6-7 reflects the tension, especially in the tie-break. We are proud of ourselves for keeping our heads until the end."
A rebound after mixed performances
The players have had some difficult times recently:
"A few weeks ago, we were demotivated after poor performances, particularly at the FIP Bronze in Monteville-Caen. However, the P1000 in Stadium Caen marked a turning point."
They are now preparing to face a new pair, Louise Bahurel and Fiona Ligi:
"It will be a tough match. Louise and Fiona have never played together, but each has great qualities. Our strength lies in our shared experience, and we hope that will make the difference."
A new life project around padel
Since July, Manon and Cassandra have started a new chapter by refocusing on their roots in the southwest:
“Manon is in Bayonne and I am in Dax. We had to find a balance to continue training together despite the distance. We regularly return to Bordeaux to work with our coach JT PT Peyrou.”
Objective: training camp for the French team at least
The duo does not hide its ambition:
"We want to progress, climb the rankings and take part in international tournaments, particularly FIPs. We also hope to be considered for the French team. If we are thought of, we will be very happy to be there."
Manon concludes with a note of humor:
“Robin Haziza, if you are watching us, know that we are working hard and we are ready.”
