Belgium presents two teams at these European Championships of Padel. Two teams that will not be able to participate in the team championships but present during the Open. Meeting with Maxime Petitjean, representative of the Belgian team this week in Rome.

A few minutes spent on the edge of a field, between match and training, taking advantage of the sun to know the padel Belgian and what the authorities are proposing for the years to come.

Belgium is split in two according to the languages used. The goal of organizations padel is to promote the padel together, accompanied by the authorities and existing tennis federations so that the future is as complete as possible.

Today in Belgium there are 142 clubs divided into 52 in the French-speaking part and 90 in the Dutch-speaking part. For these European Championships Belgium has made the decision to send its team a men and women to Lisbon. The two teams present in Rome are 1 team from the south and one from the north, a nice nod to this future union.

Speaking of goals, Belgium chose Rome for their team because they are aiming for a third place, something possible in view of the group draws. In Rome, the objective is different… to pass the first round… thing done, one of the two teams even winning against an Italian team.

Let's talk about padel in Belgium. Today although the sport has literally exploded in recent years, there is a lack of organization that everyone is working on. Information networks such as facebook pages, the French-speaking association of padel or even Padel Belgium do the basic work. The only concern is the lack of sponsors that would allow the padel Belgium to develop more quickly, by betting on elite players, clubs, federations and the padel among young people, still in the files although the Belgiques have lined up a good team in Castellon.

The next tournaments to follow absolutely would be the FIP of Gant or the exhibition WPT of Brussels which, following Maxime should be converted into WPT for the benefit of local players and more and more spectators.

Maxime, a word for the end?

Come to Belgium, inform us of your arrival and we will pick you up at the airport, because in Rome we have been forgotten ...
