Mai Vo, one of the members of the French team of padel  in 2018, was kind enough to come back to his injury last weekend at the Open 4PADEL Bordeaux with this Achilles Tendon completely ruptured. Its ambitions seem to remain intact. We reassure you: His humor has not changed!

  • With a little hindsight, what happened? We saw you in tears ...

In this final of the Open of 4PADEL Bordeaux, 5 everywhere in the first set, I thought I had taken a smash from Mélissa Martin in the heel, and I lost the support. But when I turned to Amélie, I saw that the ball was still in play, I realized that I had ruptured my right Achilles tendon.

I had a little pain at the moment but the psychic pain was much more important than the physical pain.

Indeed, what is painful is all that this implies on a personal, professional and sporting level. On a personal level, luckily I have friends who are very present that I have paid dearly to do social work, carry me around like a bag of rice from one place to another.

  • So for now, more work, more padel ?

On a professional level, since I do not have any authorized support or authorized driving, I am on forced rest. I risk working as much as a teacher at this rate ... (Laughter)

On the plan padelistic, very disappointed at not being able to go to Team France meeting next to Amelie, and to continue the tournaments with him this summer.

  • You are hurt ? How do you see her as a doctor?

The surgery took place today. It lasted 15 minutes. No drugs, no pain, so it's motivating for the future. The suites provide rehabilitation with a recovery end of August about if everything goes well. But we'll see how my little body reacts and evolves.

But this time of reeducation announced is much less long compared to the time it took me to resume after my rupture of the crusader anterior of the right knee (4 month pre-operation, 6 month post-operation). It is the carrot that motivates to hold.

I hope this will turn out ideally and I will do everything for it, but I do not have all the cards in hand, so otherwise I will have to adapt and work my patience.

I can not wait to get back to the fields to find Amélie racquet in hand!

In the meantime, I wish the girls to enjoy the gathering.

Solutions for Mai Vo to stay in the race for Europe

We are going to do some padel fiction. The French Championships of padel take place next September. Mai Vo and Amélie Feaugas could be ready for these final stages if “everything is going well". Butwe will not try the devil"If Mai sees that it's too fair," she explains.

Problem: How to participate in the finals of the championships of France without going through the box regional phases?

That's the dilemma. On paper, the FFT can not, a priori, do much. The pair must participate in a regional phase to have the hope of being called later for the finals.

But good news, the pair was already registered in the qualifying stages and could then be drafted for the finals.

It will be necessary to play with the rules and the classification to pass between the drops. But it certainly requires Mai Vo to ask the FFT a protected ranking in the top French 10, but also Amelie Feaugas to continue the competitions and win games to have the best possible ranking.

And finally if the stars are aligned, it is important that Mai Vo is 100% otherwise it "will not accept playing with a risk of relapse and take the place of another player".

A lot of if, but indeed, everything remains possible for May!
