On world number 2, Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, held their rank perfectly in the semi-final of the Milan P1, imposing itself with authority in the face of Sofia Araújo and Andrea Ustero (n°4) on the score of 6 / 3 6 / 1A clear victory, symbolic of a reunited duo, both solid in the game and complicit on an emotional level.

A one-sided start to the match

From the start, the Spanish imposed their rhythm, breaking quickly to widen the gap and take control of the match. Despite a break in the first set, they immediately reacted to re-break and show that they had found their champion mentality again.

The statistics illustrate their dominance: 36 winning points for only 18 direct errors, as many errors as their opponents, but with a much higher offensive efficiency (only 21 winning points for Araújo and Ustero). A clear sign that the difference was made in attack, where Josemaría particularly shone.

Their last title dates back to Valladolid P2, last June. Since then, they have played two finals without managing to dethrone Gemma Triay and Delfi BreaBut this week in Milan, the signals are green: rhythm, confidence and a renewed complementarity.

Ustero and Araújo too tender

Opposite, the young Andrea Ustero (18 years) and Sofia Araújo never found the solution. Zero break points, too many inaccuracies, and a inconstancy who is unforgiving at this level. Ustero, promising but still learning, showed some good things without managing to resist the constant pressure from the world number 2s.

Towards a 3rd consecutive final against Triay / Brea?
