The French Senior Interclub Championships are back from January 30 to February 1, 2026 visit us at the Palatium Sport & Life (Troyes, Grand Est League) with an edition of national 1 which promises to be intense and particularly demanding for the clubs involved.
Over three days, the best French teams, both men's and women's, will compete for the national title in a format that blends intense competition, squad management, and strategic tactical choices. Here's what you need to know.
A French Championship title is at stake.
In National 1, the objective is clear:
The winning club will be crowned French Interclub Champion 2026.
The competition is valued at P1500This makes it one of the major events of the national season, both for players and for organizations.
Among the gentlemen, 16 teams will be in contention.
In the women's competition, the table will count 8 teams.
At the end of the competition, All teams will be ranked, from 1st to 16th place in the Men's category, and from 1st to 8th place in the Women's category.
High sporting stakes... even at the bottom of the table
While the title obviously attracts all the attention, the fight to avoid relegation will be just as crucial.
- Men : the ranked clubs 15th and 16th will be relegated to National 2 in 2027
- Women : the ranked club 8e will be relegated to National 2
Each match will therefore count, including in the ranking matches, with real sporting consequences for the following season.
A “multi-chance” format throughout the weekend
The championship will be contested in the form of a multi-chance tournamentallowing each team to play several matches over the weekend.
- Departure from Round of 16 among the gentlemen
- Departure from quarter-finals in the Ladies' section
Even after a defeat, the teams will continue the competition in order to establish a complete final ranking.
A demanding format, which tests not only the level of play, but also the depth of the squad.
The central role of the captain
Each team will be led by a captain, with the possibility of also designating a deputy captain.
These players must be affiliated with the club they represent. 31th December 2025 and be licensed for the 2026 season.
They will be able to provide coaching, only during rest periodsand never simultaneously. Continuous coaching therefore remains strictly prohibited.
The captain plays a key role:
He is the one who determines the composition of his team before each match. without taking into account the FFT ranking of the players.
Team profile: a key strategic point
The rules are strict:
- The 6 best players physically present at the close of the rosters will determine the team's weighting
- No player ranked higher than these six present will be able to participate in the competition.
- only the players placed in 7th and 8th position may not be present at the closing
A maximum of two players with “New Team” status will be able to appear on each sheet.
No player with the status NOT EQUIPPED will not be able to register.
Draw and seedings
The draw will be carried out by the referee after final validation of the team sheets.
- Women : draw on Friday, January 30th at 18am
- Men : draw on Friday, January 30th at 11am
The teams will be ordered according to their weight, with a classic distribution of seeded teams:
- TS 1 and 2 placed at the top and bottom of the table
- TS 3 and 4 positioned by random draw
- then progressive draw for the other teams
Three doubles matches per encounter, with no imposed hierarchy.
Each interclub match will include three doublesplayed in the following order:
- Double No. 1
- Double No. 2
- Double No. 3
The pairs are freely composed, without obligation to respect the FFT ranking.
Thus, a pair lined up in doubles number 3 can perfectly well be stronger on paper than that of doubles number 1. The captain therefore has total freedom in his strategy.
Depending on the schedule, some matches may be played on one or two tracks, with the possibility of simultaneous matches.
