French Senior Interclub Championships – National 2 will take place from March 6-8, 2026 at the Galaxy Padel from Poitiers This new division is inserted between the National 1 and regional competitions with a clear objective: to increase the level of competition and offer more opportunities for clubs to get closer to the elite.
Between Promotions to National 1, fight for survival and strategic management of the squad This first edition of the N2 promises an intense weekend. Here's what you need to know about how the competition works.
A structured competition between promotion and relegation
La national 2 will gather 16 teams in the Men's category et 8 teams in the Women's category The competition is officially sanctioned. P1000 which makes it an important event on the French calendar.
The sporting stakes will be high:
- Men
- the two finalists will access the National 1 in 2027
- the ranked teams 13rd to 16th will go down in Regional 1
- Women
- le winning club will access the national 1
- the teams 7th and 8th will be relegated to Regional 1
However, promotion will only be possible if the club does not already have a team competing in National 1 the following season.
A three-day “multi-chance” format
The championship will be contested in the form of a multi-chance tournament This means that each team will continue to play even after a defeat in order to establish a full final standings .
- Men : table to 16 teams departure in Round of 16
- Women : table to 8 teams departure in quarter-finals
At the end of the weekend, All teams will be ranked :
- de 1 to 16 among the gentlemen
- de 1 to 8 in the Ladies' section.
Teams consist of 6 to 8 players.
Each club will have to submit a Team sheet composed of 6 to 8 players maximum for the entire duration of the competition.
Several rules govern these numbers:
- the six best players physically present at the close of the lists determine the team weight
- No player ranked higher than these six players present will be able to participate afterwards.
- the players 7 and 8 are the only ones authorized not to be present when the lists are closed
The players will also need to be administratively attached to their club no later than December 31, 2025 in order to participate.
The weight of the teams in determining the seedings
The draw is conducted by the arbitrary judge , once the team sheets have been definitively validated.
The teams are then classified according to their weight , calculated from the ranking of the six best players present.
Next, a classic seeding system is applied:
- TS 1 and 2 placed at the ends of the table
- TS 3 and 4 positioned by random draw
- the other teams gradually distributed in the table
In the men's category, the teams 9 to 16 are drawn at random in the first round.
Three doubles per match
Each match between two clubs will be played around three doubles matches .
The captain chooses six players from his team sheet , which will form the three pairs.
The compositions are totally free :
there is there is no obligation to respect the ranking hierarchy to determine the pairs or the order of the matches.
The matches will be played at A1 format , with change of balls in the third set and the competition will be played with the Wilson ball Premier Padel .
A busy weekend in Poitiers
The sports program will take place over three days:
Friday 6 March
- Men's Round of 16 starting from 14 hrs
Saturday March, 7
- quarter-finals and classification matches from 8:30
- Semi-finals and placement matches in the afternoon
Sunday 8 March
- ranking matches at 9h
- Women's and men's finals at 10am .
According to the organization, some matches may be played on one or two tracks , with a minimum rest period between matches for the players.
The central role of the captain
Each team is led by a captain , which can be assisted by a deputy captain .
Its role is crucial:
- he established the pairings before each match
- He hands the team sheet to the referee before the start of the matches.
- he can intervene in coaching only during rest periods
The simultaneous coaching of multiple managers remains prohibited.
When the score is acquired
If a team leads 2-0 The third match may not be played.
Three situations are possible:
- No team wants to play → final score 2-0
- only one team wants to play → victory flat rate 6/0 6/0
- Both teams want to play → The match is played, with the possibility of adding substitutes.
