It took a lot of effort to  Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro Facing the No. 11 seed,  Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi The fifth pair in the draw had to fight a real battle of  2:16  to secure his ticket to the semi-finals of the  London Premier Padel P1 . Final score:  7/5 6/7 6/3 .

The first set perfectly encapsulated the nature of the match. After taking an early lead, Di Nenno and Navarro saw their opponents mount a comeback, forcing a tiebreak. More solid in the crucial moments, the Argentinian and the Spaniard ultimately clinched the first set before Alonso and Goñi responded in the second, also winning in a tiebreak.

Everything came down to a third set where the experience of the No. 5 seed ultimately made the difference.

Statistics that confirm their mastery of important moments

Although the score suggests a very balanced duel, some statistics show that Di Nenno and Navarro were able to make the difference on key points.

They win  54% of the points contested , against  46%  for their opponents. Above all, they display excellent efficiency on break points with  71% conversion , against  50%  for Alonso and Goñi.

The winners also dominated in the serving department:

  •  70% of points won behind their first serve  (compared to 59%),
  •  68% of the points won on their service games , compared to 59% for their opponents.

In return, the difference was mainly made on the opponent's first serves, with  41% of points earned on the first , against only  30%  for Alonso and Goñi. In total, Di Nenno and Navarro win  41% of the points returned , against  32%  for their rivals.

These indicators illustrate their ability to raise their level when the exchanges became decisive.

Tapia and Coello in the crosshairs

This qualification allows  Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro  to sign a  third semi-final in their last four tournaments , proof of their rise to power after a more inconsistent start to the season.

The challenge will be even greater in the next round, however. They will find themselves...  Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia world number ones, who largely dominated the tournament's surprise pair,  Mariano González San Martín / Francisco Cabeza , in two dry sets ( 6 / 2 6 / 1 ) in less than an hour.

A match that promises a lot, with the world ranking leaders on one side, and on the other a Di Nenno / Navarro pair who seem to be finding, week after week, the automaticity and regularity necessary to compete with the best teams on the circuit.
