The day of the round of 16 of the Newgiza Premier Padel P2 had a huge surprise in store in the men's draw.  The pair that emerged from the qualifiers,  Enzo Jensen and Luis Hernandez , achieved the feat by eliminating  Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger , the tournament's No. 3 seed. A remarkable victory that sends both underdogs to the quarterfinals… a first for them on the circuit Premier Padel.

Jensen and Hernández make a big impact

They started the tournament in qualifying, but that didn't stop them from delivering the biggest performance of the day, perhaps even of the season.  Enzo Jensen and Luis Hernandez  overturned Lebrón and Augsburger in an intense match that ended in  Three sets: 7/6(2) 3/6 6/0 , after almost two hours of play.

The first set, extremely hard-fought, went to a tiebreak in favor of the underdogs. While Lebrón and Augsburger managed to respond in the second set, the third completely slipped away from the favorites. Jensen and Hernández cruised to victory.  6-0 final , thus sealing one of the most surprising results of the season.

This victory also marks  their first qualification for the quarter-finals on the circuit Premier Padel .

Ironically, just a few hours earlier, Leo Augsburger had been making headlines for announcing his contract extension with  Siux up to 2040 On the track, the day was much less positive for the Argentinian and his partner.

Tello and Alonso in the next round

In the quarter-finals, Jensen and Hernández will face  Juan Tello and Edu Alonso , the No. 8 seed. They too had to work hard to get through the round of 16, dominating  Aimar Goñi and Enrique Goenaga  in three sets,  7/6(5) 1/6 6/2 .

An open draw that could allow the two qualifiers to continue their incredible run in Egypt.

Galán and Chingotto were shaken up but still made it through.

The title holders  Ale Galán and Fede Chingotto The recent Miami champions also had a difficult start to the tournament. They faced  Gonzalo Rubio and Javi Ruiz , fallers of  Cardona / Leal,  The number one players in the draw were pushed to the third set.

After conceding the second set, Galán and Chingotto finally regained control to win.  6/3 4/6 6/1 .

In the quarter-finals, they will face  José Jiménez and Javi Garcia , a new Spanish association that is off to an excellent start in the tournament. Both players have eliminated  Pablo Lijó and Maxi Arce  in two close sets,  7/5 7/6(4) .

Stupa and Yanguas start strong

For their entry into the tournament,  Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas , the No. 2 seed, delivered a solid performance against  José Antonio Diestro and Maxi Sánchez Blasco .

The pair prevailed.  6 / 4 6 / 0 , quickly confirming his status as favorite in the upper part of the bracket.

They will face each other in the quarter-finals  Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini , winners of a close match, yet another one, against  Guillermo Collado and Pol Hernandez ,  7/5 5/7 6/2 .

Navarro and Guerrero solid

The final match of the day saw the qualification of  Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz , unwavering victors of  Juanlu Esbrí and Álex Ruiz ,  6 / 2 6 / 2 .

In the quarter-finals, they will face  Paquito Navarro and Fran Guerrero who are also continuing their impressive run. The Spanish pair dominated  Javi Barahona and Gonzalo Alfonso , recently partnered, in two close sets,  7 / 5 7 / 5 .

With several close matches and especially the unexpected fall of Lebrón and Augsburger, these round of 16 matches have completely reshuffled the cards in the men's draw of the  Newgiza P2 The quarter-finals now look particularly open.
