This was an important first meeting, for several reasons. First  P1000 organized in Vaucluse , first tournament together for  Julien Motz  et  Tom Couturier and a first joint success for a pair still in the discovery phase. Upon arrival, the duo set off again from  Paul & Louis Sport  with a title, but also with clear benchmarks for the rest of the season.

Conditions deemed very positive

Interviewed after the tournament, the two winners unanimously praised the club's organization and facilities. With  four indoor tracks and four outdoor tracks The site offered a setting appreciated by the players, despite a ceiling height slightly lower than usual indoor standards.

"The height is a slight drawback, but you get used to it quickly. The glass was very good, none of it fell down, and the conditions were frankly quite good throughout the tournament," summarizes Julien Motz.

Beyond the game, the hospitality and catering were also highlighted, confirming the overall success of this first edition.

A novel but already effective partnership

From a sporting perspective, this P1000 marked a  first collaboration  between Motz and Couturier. A considered choice, but without prior assumptions.

“We had never played together. Tom used to play with Arthaud, in a very different style. For a first time, it was really positive,” explains Motz.

Despite this new element, the pair quickly found its balance:  Motz very active offensively ,  Solid and consistent tailor , a complementarity which resulted in a controlled final and a tournament without any real areas of uncertainty.

Clear objectives on the French circuit

This success is an ideal start to the 2026 season, but everyone is moving forward with a well-defined roadmap. Currently  48th French Julien Motz aims for steady progress.

"The goal is to reach the top 30-35 by the end of the year. This P1000 will already help me gain a few places."

For his part, Tom Couturier, who is also pursuing his studies, prefers to maintain a more measured approach.

"I can't train as much as I'd like, so I don't have a very specific goal. But as long as the results are there, I'll keep going. A top 25 finish would be a great achievement."

International tournaments are the goal, but without rushing.

Regarding the international circuit and tournaments  FIP The two players are in a similar position:  priority to the French circuit , with possible forays abroad depending on opportunities.

"If a week becomes available, why not? I like to travel and play against unfamiliar opponents. But it costs money and time," Motz admits.

Couturier shares this vision, suggesting rather occasional participations, in “one-shot” formats, to gain experience against international pairs.

A momentum launched

With this first title together, Julien Motz and Tom Couturier have laid the foundations for a coherent project, without rushing things. A pivotal victory that confirms their on-field compatibility and allows them to approach the rest of the season with clear, yet measured, ambitions.
