Hard blow for paul cardonaThe 21-year-old Spanish prodigy, considered one of the great hopes of world padel, announced on his social networks that he ended its 2025 season. The player from Extremadura, current No. 17 worldwide, indeed drags physical problems since the P1 of Tarragona, at the beginning of August, and chose to stop his season to get proper treatment.

“I gave it my all, but you have to know when to stop.”

In a message marked by lucidity and maturity, Cardona explains his decision:

“We have made a difficult but necessary decision: to end my season. I have done everything I can to continue playing, but after speaking with the medical team, the best solution is to stop to recover and focus on the ambitious goals I want to achieve next season. I am at peace, convinced that I gave my all this year, and convinced that this is the right decision to return at 100% in 2026.”

A contrasting season after a thunderous start

The year 2025 had nevertheless started under the best auspices for paul cardona. Next to Leo Augsburg, they formed one of the most feared pairs on the circuit. Together, they knocks off the top three teams in the world : Tapia / Coello, Galán / Chingotto and Lebrón /Stupa and even reached their first final on the circuit Premier Padel.

But the dynamic broke when Augsburger has chosen to partner with Martín Di Nenno. Cardona then experienced a more unstable period, with a short collaboration with Juan Tello (only four tournaments), before trying a new adventure at Rotterdam with Javi Garrido, concluded with elimination in the last sixteen.

A talent put on hold

This injury interrupts an upward trajectory. The young left-hander, already present at the Premier Finals 2024 alongside Paquito Navarro, seemed this year able to to establish itself sustainably in the world topHis power, his audacity and his spectacular style had conquered the public and marked his adversaries.

See you in 2026

Despite this premature end, Pablo Cardona's story is just beginningAs he recalled in his message, the motivation remains intact:

“The commitment is still there, and the desire remains strong. See you in 2026.”

After a year full of promise but marked by injuries and changes of partners, the young Spaniard chooses wisdom. And knowing his mentality, his return in 2026 could well be explosive.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
