Why is it important to properly light padel courts?

Proper lighting of padel courts is essential to meet the following needs:

Padel Court Lighting Regulations

According to the IPF manual, Padel Game Regulations, lighting on Padel courts must be uniform without causing difficulties for players, audience, and referees. 
 In the European Union, the standard that governs these standards is EN 12193. It establishes the minimum levels of lighting on a padel court by distinguishing between In-door and Out-door.  

Lighting of Indoor Padel Courts

• For international or national competitions, horizontal lighting must be 750 lux with uniformity E min/E med of 0,7.
• For local competitions, training, school competitions, or recreational use, horizontal lighting shall be 300 lux with uniformity E min/E med of 0,5.

Lighting of Out-door Padel Courts

• For international or national competitions, horizontal lighting must be 500 lux with uniformity E min/E med of 0,7.
• For local competitions, training, school competitions, or recreational use, horizontal lighting shall be 200 lux with uniformity E min/E med of 0,5.

Height of Lighting in Padel Courts As mentioned in one of our last articles on padel court measurements, lighting poles should be placed outside the facility with the bottom of the floodlight placed at least 6 meters above the ground.  For newly built facilities, the minimum height in case of lighting installed inside the court is suggested instead to be at least 8 meters above the ground.
